The 2016 Baltimore Bach Marathon
The Choir of St. David's performs Aus der Tiefen rufen ich,
BWV 131, at the 2016 Baltimore Bach Marathon.
St. David's was pleased to present the 40th Annual Baltimore Bach Marathon, offering an afternoon and evening of music featuring the works of one of Western Classical music's greatest composers, Johann Sebastian Bach. The 2016 marathon lasted from 2-7 pm on March 13 (the Sunday closest to Bach's birthday before Palm Sunday). Performers included organists Douglas Buchanan, Roderick Demmings, Mary Hamlin-Spencer and William Wisnom; instrumentalists Jeremy Lyons (guitar) and John Nauman (piano); vocalists Kerry Holahan, Ben Hawker, and Daryl Yoder; the musicians of Charm City Baroque; and, closing the program with a performance of Cantata 131, Aus der Tiefe rufe ich, the Choir of St. David's. Admission to the Bach Marathon is always free, but a $5 donation per hour attended helps ensure that wonderful music continues to fill our church. Sandwiches and cakes are make available starting at 4:00 pm (a $5 donation is appreciated). Find out more about last year's program here.
